How I improved my English?!

Nowadays people are more obsessed with English as it has been A global language, and to be honest it's a bit handy if you are traveling or connecting with people on social media or personally.

People like me who had completed their education with non-English schools would understand the struggles of learning or speaking English and get that confidence to communicate with others.

But let me be honest it's not difficult as our teachers make it seems like, with all that grammar and proverbs, vowels, and that all so heavy vocabulary.

To be honest, it's not the problem with understanding or speaking English, it'is the confidence that we lack when we came to a situation where we have to speak, and that too with someone who had freshly came out from Convent school or someone who likes to flaunt about his foreignish  English.

I myself who had studied in Marathi Medium School and graduated from the average college, think I kind of got over that stage; at least a little.

That's why I decided to share some of my ways to learn different languages.

Don't worry it's not gonna be boring.

The first thing to get clear is your dedication to learning a whole new language.
at our age, we find it difficult and tiresome to do some studies and make notes.

I would be lying if I say that I never thought of giving up. I mean throughout the way you may get thoughts to just let go.
But trust me it will make you quite proud of yourself in the end.

So let's not waste time and get that "Bring It On !!!" spirit.

To learn any language:

1.     The first and most important start to this is, reading.

Start reading in the language. It's a slow start but most effective one at the same time. Read whatever you like, online stories, blogs, comics; it just has to be in English. Try searching the words which you don't understand or which you've heard the first time; try to hear pronunciations also, it'll help a lot.

Note: Don't go for newspapers in the first attempt as it includes much complicated and bigger words. And starting with jargon is not a good idea. You can gradually select it after you get the confidence about your vocabulary. Also try to read out loud, this way you won't make any mistakes in pronunciations, get in your personal space and go on.

2.     Watch movies, with English subtitles.

Movies are the best way to learn everyday used words or get an idea about a casual conversation. Get yourself used to the formation of the sentence. Try a game. While watching the movie, with each dialogue or a sentence, try to think of the ways you would have said the dialogue in your own way; making some changes, use alternate words.

Or simply just try to understand what is going on in the movie and enjoy it,
It’s unto you how much you can grab from the one and a half hour of video.

3.     The third option is a bit similar to the above is watching movies without subtitles. Movies with subtitles are bit easy to understand you can just pause and read the entire sentence and then move forward, but with no subs on it would get a bit difficult to get the grip of the situation in the movie. But would definitely help you. Just try to understand the words and enjoy the movie :)

Note: you can do this step before the 2nd and then see what you had understood before, or what you though the charterer was saying in the movie, it'll help you to correct your mistakes.

4.     Listen to music.

Music is the best way to relax your nerves and get comfortable with it. With music you would totally depend on your hearing skills, you will get more sensitive on listening. At first, when you start it’s difficult and when you read the actual lyrics of the song… I’m dame sure you’ll question your hearing skills. But don’t be disappointed, it’s actually fun when you read the actual lyrics to compare with your misheard ones. This one is just for fun, so feel free to skip it.

5.     Start thinking in the language you want to learn.

This is the most suggested one method when learning a language. You have to think in  English, make statements in your mind; how you would say this sentence which you use on a daily basis, and try to say out loud, it may sound awkward or a bit uncomfortable at first but keep trying, you'll eventually notice your ascent has change slightly.  Thinking comes first when you speak and that’s the reason why this method is more effective than anything else.

6. And the most important, try to keep a steady schedule. You know you go to school or tuition. Just like that, keep the time fixed for your studies for the language. Keep an hour or two reserved for your self. It'll helps your brain to keep concentrate and focus on the task in hand.

THAT'S IT ???

Yes. this would be enough to get you handy with the words and the formations. You will be able to keep the small talks and conversation to go.

One thing to never forget is, people are never perfect in anything.

You improve and get better, in things you really find an interest in.

So what are you waiting for, get to work!!!!
