The girl on the train Quotes (Review)

Book: The girl on the train (2015)

Author:  Paula Hawkins

📊Goodreads: 3.94

It's a psychological thriller, written in three POV’s (point of view), Rachel catches the same commuter train every morning. She knows it will wait at the same signal each time, overlooking a row of back gardens. She’s even started to feel like she knows the people who live in one of the houses. “Jess and Jason,” she calls them. Their life—as she sees it—is perfect. If only Rachel could be that happy. And then she sees something shocking. It’s only a minute until the train moves on, but it’s enough. Now everything’s changed. Now Rachel has a chance to become a part of the lives she’s only watched from afar. Now they’ll see; she’s much more than just the girl on the train...

as the book is related psychological based, the characters seem to me are overly exaggerated,   there are three POV's, Rachal, Anna, and Megan.

Rachal starts to narrate the story, telling about her getting in her regular train, then at the common signal she could watch over her old house and the house a few blocks away. she would observe the couple living there she named them Jess and Jason—Megan and Scott— seeing them affectionate she wonders about her own married life, there's jealousy, self-pity. her character in particular is very complicated.  She is a mess, divorced, alcoholic, stalks her husband and his current wife, depressed over her infertility. She just imagines things on her own, many unnecessary moves, like roaming around tom's house, lying to the police, approaching Scott or Kamal (Megan's psychiatrist) etc.

Megan is the one around whom the story revolves around, though she is short lived, but then onwards story changes gears . Megan is missing and later is found dead from the mysterious death. She is suffering from her painful past — blaming herself for the death of her baby— is also seeking help from a psychiatrist for the same.

Anna, she and Tom had an affair, when he was still married to Rachal, they also have a baby girl. She is fed up with his ex-wife constantly roaming around their house, always calling and texting Tom, Anna is worried at how Tom is being unnecessarily sweet and giving her false hopes that they can go back together even after the divorce, She starting to get insecure about their marriage. I found her character pretty judgy, calling Rachal a loser, Megan as a child killer, quite shady I'd say.
